Using Online Gambling Websites to Locate Genius Mathematicians

Researchers at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada have determined that experts in diverse fields have distinct personality traits, such as risk-taking, optimism and empathy. The team found that those who performed better on the Canadian Graduate Studies-Test of Graduate Thinking (CGS-TGT) test were the ones with the highest level of “Neuroticism.”

Sears added that while many people have probably made money from online gambling, few have actually found genius mathematicians through the websites. Sears said that this research was the first to analyze the behavior of the people who frequent online gambling websites.

“When I first saw the results of the research, I thought that people were simply using these sites to get away from their problems,” Sears said. “I was surprised to learn that many people who use these sites were drawn to them because they wanted to meet people like themselves.”
